How to Book IPPT on the NS Portal (OneNS): Step-by-Step Guide

Booking your IPPT is straightforward once you know where the eService lives and what the cut-off times actually are. Most of the confusion comes from three things: people leave it until the end of their window, they do not realise how early the booking closes on the test date itself, and they are not sure what happens if they miss a slot. This guide covers all three.

The short version

  • Book on the NS Portal (now called OneNS), using the IPPT/NS FIT eService.
  • NSmen can book up to 3 months in advance.
  • Booking for morning and afternoon sessions closes at 0000hrs on the test date. Evening sessions close at 1200hrs on the test date.
  • Report 15 minutes before your session starts.
  • Miss one booked session and nothing happens — rebook any available slot in your window.

How to book your IPPT, step by step

  1. Log in to the NS Portal. The portal is now branded OneNS, and it is the only place to book. Use Singpass to log in.
  2. Open the IPPT/NS FIT eService. This is where both IPPT and NS FIT bookings are made.
  3. Check your IPPT window. Your window dates, your standards and your remaining attempts are all shown in the eService. Your standards vary by age, vocation and ORD date, which is why the portal is the authority on your own numbers rather than any website.
  4. Pick your FCC and slot. Available sessions across the Fitness Conditioning Centres are listed with their dates and timings.
  5. Confirm the booking. You will get a confirmation, and the session will show in the eService.

When you should book

MINDEF’s own guidance is to book immediately after your IPPT window opens, and the reason is not bureaucratic — it is that booking early gives you a date to train towards and leaves room for a second or third attempt if the first one does not go your way.

The advice specifically warns against rushing to take your IPPT at the end of your window. If you leave it to the last few weeks, slots are tighter, you have no room to reattempt, and a single bad morning becomes your result for the year.

If you are not sure what you are training towards, run your current numbers through our IPPT calculator first. Knowing that you are six seconds off Silver changes how you train for the next two months.

Booking cut-off times

This is the detail that catches people out, because the cut-off is not a few hours before the session — it is earlier than most people assume.

  • Morning and afternoon sessions: booking closes by 0000hrs on the test date. In practice that means you must book the day before at the latest.
  • Evening sessions: booking closes by 1200hrs on the test date.

So you cannot wake up, feel good, and book a slot for that morning. If you want a morning session, the booking has to be in before midnight the night before.

How far ahead you can book

NSmen can book sessions up to three months in advance. If your window has just opened and you want a specific FCC on a specific weekend, booking early is how you get it.

Where you can take your IPPT

NSmen can take their IPPT at any of the Fitness Conditioning Centres, whichever suits their schedule:

  • Bedok FCC
  • Khatib FCC
  • Kranji FCC
  • CMPB FCC

Current locations, addresses and session schedules are listed on OneNS. Pre-enlistee re-tests are conducted at the CMPB FCC.

What happens if you miss a booked session

Short answer: for a single missed session, nothing. MINDEF’s guidance is explicit that you will not be punished for one missed booked session, and that you do not need to inform your unit or the FCC. You simply rebook any available slot within your IPPT window.

What does matter is the window itself. If you do not take your annual IPPT during your IPPT window, or you do not complete the required number of NS FIT sessions, you are deemed a defaulter and have to attend a Summary Trial, with the disciplinary consequences that follow. The missed booking is not the problem. The missed window is.

Reporting time

Report 15 minutes before the session starts. That time is used for in-processing, and arriving on the dot rather than early is how sessions run late for everyone.

Bring your SAF 11B, or your NRIC or driving licence, for registration. If you are 35 or older and attended an SAF Health Screening Programme session within the past week, bring your valid medical examination certificate from HSP as well.

Make sure your kit meets the standard too — the permitted attire is narrower than most people expect. We cover it in IPPT attire and what to wear, and the full packing list is in what to bring for IPPT.

How many attempts you get

You can attempt IPPT more than three times in a window, and the incentive scheme still applies to every attempt. But three is the number that matters for two reasons:

  • Service and make-up pay is provided only for the first three attempts.
  • Only the first three sessions count towards your 40-day annual NS call-up limit.

On the money side, if you improve to a higher award on a later attempt, you receive the incremental difference rather than the full amount again. Pass with Incentive on one attempt and Silver on the next means $200 then a further $100. Gold is capped at one award per IPPT window.

Booking IPPT while you are on NS FIT

Being in the NS FIT programme does not stop you booking an IPPT. You can book and attempt your IPPT any time you feel ready.

The one restriction is a safety rule: you cannot attend an NS FIT session on the same day you complete an IPPT.

Pre-enlistee IPPT booking

Pre-enlistees book through the PE IPPT eService on the OneNS dashboard rather than the NSmen eService.

The timing works differently: book by Tuesday before 12pm to test the following day at Toa Payoh Stadium. Your final attempt deadline is published on the CMPB website, and it is worth checking early, because it is tied to your enlistment rather than to a rolling window.

Before you book, know your target

A booking is only useful if you know what you are aiming for. Our IPPT calculator takes your push-up reps, sit-up reps and 2.4km timing and returns your score and award tier for your age group, plus the exact 2.4km timing you need for the next award.

If you would rather read the numbers directly, the complete IPPT score tables are published for all three stations and all fourteen age groups. Servicewomen should use the female IPPT calculator, since the tables are different.
