This Privacy Policy explains how ipptcalculatorns.com (“we”, “us”, “this site”) handles information when you visit the site or use the IPPT calculator. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal language, because most of our visitors are NSFs, NSmen and pre-enlistees who just want to check a score.
The short version
The numbers you type into the calculator — your age, push-up reps, sit-up reps and 2.4km timing — are processed entirely inside your own browser. They are never transmitted to our server, never stored, and never linked to you. Close the tab and they are gone. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell data to anyone.
What we do have is the ordinary information that any website receives automatically, plus cookies used for advertising and site performance. The sections below cover that in detail.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
The only way you can send us personal information is by emailing us at info@ipptcalculatorns.com. If you do, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write. We use that solely to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your message to third parties.
Information collected automatically
Like virtually every website, our hosting provider records standard server log information when a page is requested. This typically includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page you requested, the page that referred you, and the date and time of the request. This data is used for security, for diagnosing technical faults, and for understanding aggregate traffic patterns. It is not used to build a profile of you as an individual.
Calculator inputs
To be explicit, because people ask: the IPPT calculator, the score tables and the run-target planner on this site all run as JavaScript in your browser. Your reps and timings are not posted to our server, not written to a database, and not recorded in any log. We could not retrieve your results even if we wanted to.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. This site uses cookies in three broad categories.
Necessary cookies. Our caching layer and the WordPress software that runs the site may set cookies so that pages load quickly and correctly. These do not identify you personally.
Preference storage. Some parts of the site may remember a setting locally in your browser, such as the age group you last selected on the score table page, so you do not have to pick it again. This stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
Advertising cookies. These are set by Google and its partners. They are described in the next section.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block advertising cookies you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you. Blocking all cookies may affect how some parts of the site behave.
Advertising
This site is free to use and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to serve ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks that we do not control may also serve ads on this site and may set their own cookies. We do not have access to, and cannot control, those cookies.
A full list of how Google uses data from sites that use its services is available in Google’s own policy.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful and which are not — for example, how many people reached the score table page and whether they found what they needed. Any analytics we use reports in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.
Links to other sites
We link to external sources, most often official Singapore government pages such as ns.gov.sg, CMPB and MINDEF. Once you follow a link away from this site, this policy no longer applies. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
How long we keep information
Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period and then overwritten. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Calculator inputs are never stored at all, so there is nothing to retain.
Your rights
Our audience is mainly in Singapore, and we handle personal data in line with the principles of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to processing.
In practice we hold almost nothing. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, write to info@ipptcalculatorns.com and we will remove it.
Children
This site is aimed at people who are approaching or already serving National Service. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, so traffic between your browser and our server is encrypted. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but because we collect so little, there is very little at risk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data — for example, if we add a new advertising partner or an analytics tool — we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted clearly rather than slipped in quietly.
Contact
Questions about this policy, or about anything on this site, can go to info@ipptcalculatorns.com. We usually reply within 24 to 48 hours.
