IPPT Score Table for Regular Serviceman
Full NSmen IPPT scoring chart for push-ups, sit-ups and 2.4km run. Updated for 2026 SAF standards.
IPPT Scoring System for NSmen
The IPPT has three stations. Push-ups, sit-ups and the 2.4km run.
Each station has a maximum score. Push-ups give up to 25 points. Sit-ups give up to 25 points. The 2.4km run gives up to 50 points. Total possible score is 100 points.
For regular NSmen, you need at least 1 point from every station. And your total must reach 51 points or more to pass. Score zero in any one station and you fail the whole test. Does not matter what your total is.
Scoring is age-based. Every age group has its own score table. The same push-up reps or run timing gives different points depending on how old you are.

IPPT Passing Score for NSmen
To pass IPPT as a regular NSman, you need two things.
First, at least 1 point from every station. Zero in push-ups, sit-ups or the run means you fail the whole test. Even if your total looks high enough.
Second, a total score of 51 points or more across all three stations.
Score 51 to 60 and you get a Pass. No cash for this band. But you clear your IPPT requirement for the window.
Score 61 or more and you start getting cash incentives. That is the Pass with Incentive tier.
IPPT Gold Score Requirements
Gold is 85 points and above. It gives you $500 via PayNow.
To hit Gold, you need strong scores across all three stations. You cannot rely on just one station. The run gives 50 points maximum. Even a perfect run score of 50 still needs 35 more points from push-ups and sit-ups combined.
| Age group | Push-ups needed for Gold station score | Sit-ups needed for Gold station score | 2.4km timing for Gold station score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age 22 to 24 | 60 reps and above | 60 reps and above | Below 9:44 |

IPPT Silver Score Requirements
Silver is 75 to 84 points. It gives you $300 via PayNow.
Silver is achievable for most NSmen who train consistently for 8 to 10 weeks. The run is where most people gain or lose the most points. A decent run time combined with solid push-up and sit-up numbers usually gets you into Silver range.
| Age group | Approx push-ups for Silver range | Approx sit-ups for Silver range | Approx 2.4km timing for Silver range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Age 22 to 24 | 50 to 59 reps | 50 to 59 reps | 9:44 to 10:58 |

| Age 40 to 42 | 29 to 35 reps | 28 to 35 reps | 12:18 to 13:58 |
How Age Group Affects Your Score
This is the part most NSmen get wrong. They look at someone else’s target and train for that number. But every age group has different cutoffs.
A 22-year-old needs more push-up reps to get the same points as a 38-year-old. The scoring system adjusts as you get older. Older age groups have lower benchmarks for the same point value.
This means two things. First, do not compare your target reps to someone in a different age group. Second, as you get older your IPPT actually gets slightly easier to pass on paper.
| Age group | Push-ups for 25 points | Sit-ups for 25 points | Run for 50 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 22 to 24 | 60 reps | 60 reps | Below 9:44 |
| 25 to 27 | 56 reps | 56 reps | Below 10:00 |
| 28 to 30 | 52 reps | 52 reps | Below 10:22 |
| 31 to 33 | 48 reps | 48 reps | Below 10:44 |
| 34 to 36 | 44 reps | 44 reps | Below 11:12 |
| 37 to 39 | 40 reps | 40 reps | Below 11:42 |
| 40 to 42 | 36 reps | 36 reps | Below 12:18 |
How to Use the Score Table to Plan Your Training
The score table is most useful when you use it to find your gap. Here is how to do it properly.
First, check your current level. Do a max set of push-ups, a max set of sit-ups and a timed 2.4km run. Write all three numbers down.
Second, use the IPPT calculator to convert those numbers into points. See your total and your award level.
Third, look at which station is giving you the fewest points. That is your weakest station. That is where you train first.
Fourth, use the target planner to find the exact run timing you need. Enter your push-up and sit-up numbers. Pick your target award. The planner tells you what 2.4km time to aim for.
Fifth, use the 2.4km lap pacer to convert your target run time into per-lap splits. Know your pace number before you go to the track.
